When I was full-term with my first pregnancy, I got a call from a friend.

"Are you ready for childbirth? Our company is having a sample sale tomorrow, so be sure to come! You can buy all the clothes you need for 3 years after having a baby!"

My friend worked at a global children's clothing manufacturing company, and she said she could get branded clothes that cost 20,000-30,000 won per piece for 2,000-3,000 won. I quickly ran there. I visited there, vowing to buy just a few things I needed, but I ended up carrying three sacks that looked like something Santa Claus would carry... It was a difficult journey home carrying a bundle of clothes while pregnant, but you can't tell how happy I was that I wouldn't have to worry about my child's clothes for the next few years.

A few months later I gave birth to my first child. I received a few pairs of baby PJs as a gift and had a lot of things prepared in advance so I didn't have to worry about clothes. But when I started raising children myself, strangely I couldn't put my hands on the pretty clothes I had bought in advance. The dresser was full of baby clothes, but I spent the day rotating the few pairs of PJs I received as gifts. And I realize it again. Children's clothes should be stretchy, soft, and easy to put on and take off!

Then I found out about the baby leggings. They say that while innerwear (PJ) is tight clothes worn at home, leggings are the tight clothes worn outside. However, when I searched to buy baby leggings, I was so confused - spandex leggings, ribbed leggings, sheep-brushed leggings, mink leggings, etc... There were so many different materials, types, and prices. I wasn’t sure how good those were because I couldn’t touch them before buying them, but I had to save time while raising children so carefully selected leggings with good reviews. Most of the leggings were ordinary, and the thickness and color varied greatly each time, but I had to console myself with disappointment, wondering if there were only cheap and crummy leggings in the market.

Meanwhile, my child started to wear the leggings every day. As soon as he started walking, he brought his shoes and put them in front of me, begging me to go outside. When I went out for a walk, it almost seemed like he was crawling on all fours on the ground, so I had to change his clothes every time I came back. After eating three meals a day for baby-led weaning, I had to change his clothes every time. The washing machine ran twice a day, without stopping. However, no matter how hard I washed his clothes, I still needed at least 5 pairs of leggings per season. I felt that leggings were an apparel item among baby care apparel.

I was thinking about making the best baby innerwear and leggings someday, and by chance, I came across one modal leggings sample. At the time, modal was a material used for adults, not a material easily used for baby leggings or innerwear. There was a general perception that 100% cotton was the best for baby clothes, and since modal material was more expensive than regular cotton, there was no need for manufacturers to use materials mixed with modal. Moreover, the 30,000 won leggings I bought started to pill a lot after washing them twice. I was determined to make modal leggings with minimal pilling. “Let’s make it to the highest specifications. However, I want to reduce the price by half.”

The goal was to become a baby leggings brand you can trust. One of the most inconvenient things about raising my first child was not having a brand I could trust to buy every season. Since I bought his innerwear and leggings from different brands every time, his drawer was always full of a jumble of leggings. But I always put him on stretchy and soft leggings among them. I end up dressing him only a few until they dry out and wear out, repeatedly, every season. So, I wanted to become a brand where you can buy good materials at a reasonable price without failure and buy as many pieces as the collection is released every season with consistent quality and spec.

What is the best fabric for baby leggings? I started to study deeper into the fabric. When developing the fabric, we knitted a cotton spandex base mixed with 38% modal to maintain a soft texture, elasticity, and comfortable fit. Modal has a flowing nature, you won't get a tight fit and durability is also low when you mix the modal too much. We also added an enzyme washing process to reduce fluff, which is a problem of modal. We added a high-quality lightweight band to prevent tightness in the waist even for children with chubby tummy, and conducted many weight tests to perfect the thickness of inter-seasonal leggings that are comfortable to wear.

My second child's reaction during the sample test process was very interesting. When the first child was little, he brought shoes and asked to go for a walk, but my second child opened the drawer and brought out the leggings to ask me to go outside with him. The drawer was full of hand-me-down leggings from his older brother, and I was amazed that even a two-year-old child knew which leggings were good.

As we put a lot of effort into creating these leggings, our customers' responses were enthusiastic upon the release of the first season. ‘I trust all products from Konny’, ‘Settle down to Konny leggings’, ‘I’m so glad I don’t have to worry about how to dress my kids every day.’ Customers asked to make coordinating items that could be worn with leggings, so we created the best specs in our way, including tops made of Supima material, which is called the cashmere of cotton, and socks in pretty colors without constricting the ankles. We are completing the Konny Apparel line to make more and more fashionable every season by reflecting trend colors and taking note of improvements made through valuable feedback from customers!
